Regional Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Manager

Rogers-O'Brien (RO) is looking for a highly motivated Regional VDC Manager to support and manage all Dallas/Fort Worth VDC / BIM activities and staff. In order to be considered for this position, you must live within a 50 mile radius of the Dallas office.

  • Research, develop and document processes, workflows, and standards for new software and technology
  • Develop and maintain VDC project budgets and schedules
  • Advise project teams on the use of BIM and technology
  • Assist and support preconstruction team’s use of BIM for project pursuits, estimating and 4D planning
  • Train and support project team staff members and other RO employees
  • Measure and track successful use of technology on RO projects
  • Oversee custom programming/customization of software applications
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends in design techniques and procedures
  • Attend, participate and present at industry events promoting BIM technology
  • Manage relationship with technology vendors and resellers
  • Cooperate with IT professionals to equip staff with proper hardware and software tools for projects
  • Educate partners and clients on technology and collaborative workflows
  • Participate in coordination/clash meetings on BIM projects
  • Coordinate VDC strategy with management and other department heads

Requirements to Apply

  • Architectural, Engineering, Construction, or Computer Science Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
  • Experience (6+ years or more)  in Architectural, Engineering, Construction, or Computer Science industry preferred, but not required
  • Possess a general knowledge and competency of computer hardware and software
  • Possess an expert level knowledge of key software applications (Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, etc.) 
  • Has a background or interest in programming (Dynamo, VB.net, C+, C#, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Revit API is highly desirable
  • Has an understanding or interest of the overall construction process
  • Has an understanding of the duties of various departments within the company
  • Has the ability to manage and communication well with other

Education

Education

  • Architectural, Engineering, or Computer Science bachelor’s degree or higher

Licensure/Certification

  • CM-BIM recommended

Environmental/Working Conditions

  • 70% office environment.
  • 30% field environment (job site visits, etc.)
  • Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner required.
  • May be exposed to high, medium, or low noise intensity.
  • Constant contact with co-workers required.
  • This is a full time position.  Regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • 1-2 out of town trips per month expected. (mostly day trips to Austin, San Antonio or Houston)

Physical Requirements

  • Constant adequate range of motion and mobility required.
  • Regular sitting or standing, bending or stooping, and the ability to carry equipment and other such items as packaged material weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Frequent talking and the ability to express and exchange ideas by means of language
  • Regular hearing and the ability to perceive the nature of sounds
  • Regular near acuity with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less required
  • Constant ability to read, record or type data quickly and accurately required
  • Typical ability to collect and analyze numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions and ability to determine the time, place and sequence of operations or actions required

 

Computer Skills

  • Possess a general knowledge and competency of computer hardware and software
